Queensland squad member Josh Kerr is set to challenge a $10, fine handed down by the NRL for extraordinary comments he made about State of Origin referee Ashley Klein. The Dolphins forward didn't play in the Origin decider last week, but was on hand to celebrate with the team after being included in Billy Slater's player squad.
Kerr was in a jovial and forthcoming mood outside the Maroons' team hotel on the morning after the game, after a night celebrating Queensland's triumph. Speaking to reporters, the forward made some staggering comments about the performance of referee Klein that have since attracted a $10, fine from league headquarters.
“I’m not sure how much trouble I could get into for saying it, but I thought Ash Klein did a bit to try and - you know - even it up or make it a bit closer,” Kerr said. “We were sitting there (on the sideline) going, ‘it’s rorted, the game’s rorted’.

Please explain: NRL sanctions Kerr over Klein comments
Queensland forward Josh Kerr has been sanctioned by the NRL after comments he made about referee Ashley Klein following the State of Origin series decider.
The year-old, who was 20th man for the Maroons in their win, spoke the morning after the win and said "the game's rorted", and referred to Klein as a "double agent".
Dolphins prop Kerr, who likes to crack jokes, had his tongue in cheek with the comments, but they were not well received by the NRL.
NSW won the penalty count after the Maroons had led that statistic in their win in game two.
On Saturday, the NRL issued Kerr with a breach notice alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct.
"The comments are considered detrimental to the best interests of the game and also serve to undermine the credibility of correspond officials," the NRL said in a statement.
Kerr, in the afterglow of the series win, was interviewed by reporters early on Thursday morning after the Maroons celebrated their victory.

The Dolphins are set to contest a $10, NRL breach verb handed down to forward Josh Kerr, for public comments he made around the performance of referee Ashley Klein in the Origin decider.
Kerr was a part of the Maroons’ extended squad for the decider in Sydney last Wednesday night, but didn’t feature in the game.
The morning after the game, Kerr was interviewed by television reporters, and didn’t hold back when it came to Klein.
