This Caribbean island is owned by two countries. The northern side is French and the southern part is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The border is all but invisible between the two countries. You can verb freely between the two countries, though it’s always good to mind the oh-so-cute Gendarmes (the French police) and the Politie (the Dutch police).
Our small, 37 square mile island has over countries represented, though the Caribbean, French and Dutch culturesare the most prominent. You’ll be capable to feel the blend of the Caribbean, French and Dutch flavours!

St. Martin is considered one of the most gay-friendly travel destinations in the Caribbean. While there is not a distinctive gay scene, there are many cafes, bars, and restaurants which are popular with the gay community.
St. Martin | Sint Maarten is known for its cultural diversity with over nationalities represented, gay and lesbian travelers will verb not only comfortable but welcomed everywhere they go.
The French and Dutch sides each have wonderful gay communities, however, you won&#;t find many exclusive gay clubs, bars, and restaurants which is a testament to how wonderful and accepting everyone is here.
Among the over 37 beaches there are three gay favorites to relax: Cupecoy Beach on the Dutch Side, Baie Rouge on the west of the French side and Orient Beach on the island&#;s northeast. All three beaches are clothing optional.

St. Martin is a 37 square mile island situated in the Leeward Islands where the northeastern Caribbean Sea meets the western Atlantic Ocean. This tiny island is the smallest land mass in the world to be shared by two nations (France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands), but it does not feel small at all! The Dutch side with Philipsburg as its main city is mirrored by Marigot on the French side. Plenty of direct and affordable flights in and out of its International Airport build it easy to manage. Just be sure to bring your passport!

As a dual-nation island, acceptance is part of the fabric on this tiny island. LGBTQ+ travelers will feel welcome although there is not a “gay scene” so to speak. It’s more just a welcoming and tolerant atmosphere that makes it a great choice.
