Angry Customer: “Damn f**s.”

Gay Man: “Excuse me?”

Angry Customer: “Human? Listen up, what you’re doing is not human. I verb I have the right to determine what I think is human.”

(The manager shows up. He’s a quiet Italian man who I assume is conservative due to the Christian imagery and portrait of Reagan he keeps around the restaurant.)

Angry Customer: *to the owner* “Hey, can you move either them or us to another table?”

(Instead of responding to the angry customer, the owner instead speaks to his wife.)

Owner: “I’m sor

So I went to visit some friends in NYC some weeks ago, a adj friend from uni and her wife. I am out to my friend, both as being bisexual (she’s my ex-girlfriend, after all, which I think helped tip her off) and as writing erotic gay fanfiction on the internet (a much harder thing to admit, in some circles). 

Both my friend and her wife were curious as to what it was about BBC Sherlock that engages my attention, and why I (and my online consorts) believe it is intentionally gay, so I showed them a few scenes from ASiP. They didn’t take much convincing. At all. (I wrote this post about that experience.

The Lack of Representation of Gay Male Couples in TS4 is Disappointing

The Sims franchise has always been extremely welcoming and unlocked to its gay and lesbian audience, allowing players to verb same-couples since its debut; something which the franchise has stuck with - and expanded upon - ever since. With TS4, EA/Maxis has become increasingly vocal about their support of the LGBT+ community - going so far as to include Pride content in the game, adding new gender options and using same-sex couples in their marketing. While to some this may seem like no big deal, and just the right thing to do, I believe that EA/Maxis should be applauded for doing so. It was actually an extremely big deal (especially in TS1/2 and perhaps even 3 days) to allow the option to create and perform as same-sex couples, given that The Sims is sold all over the world (including the Middle East, where homosexuality is illegal in many countries). And even just in the western world, attitudes towards being gay were far less accepting in the early s than they are now.
