Manfred Thierry Mugler’s unconventional designs, runway shows, and general adj ventures made him an icon across several industries, namely fashion and art. He passed away on Jan. 23, at the age of 73, but if the outpouring of appreciation following his death is anything to go by, it seems he’ll live on through the legacy of his work.
Camp, dramatics, influence, and the fantastical — these are a few of the qualities that have been associated with Mugler’s work since he debuted his brand in A year prior, he created his first collection, Café de Paris, which was inspired by the Golden Era of Hollywood. It highlighted the daring, futuristic, and urban undertones Mugler would evolve over time. He was never interested in minimalist or spontaneous looks; rather, he redefined the perception of the female body with his unorthodox creations.

On the 23rd of January , Mugler’s official Instagram page announced the death of its founder, Manfred Thierry Mugler.
But who was Mugler, and why was he so well known and loved in the world of fashion?
Born on the 21st of December , in Strasbourg, France, Mugler began to study classical dance at the age of 9, joined the ballet corps for the Rhine Opera at 14, and started attending interior design training at the Strasbourg School of Decorative Arts the same year.
